Hands-On Learning for Tomorrow’s Leaders
OUR STORY
The Snohomish FFA was one of the first FFA Chapters in the state of Washington. Originally called Agriculture Education, the program morphed to Snohomish Agribusiness in the 1980’s and then Agriscience in 2005, when the classes became recognized as science credits, instead of elective credits.
Today, in addition to science, students learn business and record keeping skills, job readiness, public speaking and leadership development. Students are required to plan and maintain a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), or project, that is unique to their interests. From dairy cattle production to dog training and from volunteering at the animal shelter to growing a school garden, students are able to exhibit their SAE projects at local fairs and exhibitions to showcase their connection to agriculture and science.
Students gain knowledge and skills to help them transition to college or careers after high school. Many students continue onto college and pursue a variety of jobs in agriculture or other sciences. We have graduates who are farmers, health coaches, nutritionists, agricultural lawyers, journalists, veterinarians, landscape designers and some who are parents who inspire their children to love and respect agriculture.
OUR INSTRUCTORS
Tracy Brown
Having graduated with a degree in Agriculture Education from Washington State University in 2002, AG Science instructor Tracy Brown is now in her third year of teaching at Snohomish High School after a 10-year combined stint in Tacoma and then Arlington. She lives in Snohomish with her husband and two children; she loves flowers, animals and reading and readily admits she only kind of likes running.
Stacy Lischke
Washington native Stacy Lischke Stacy was a member of the Snohomish FFA during her high school days and afterwards translated her love for animals into an early career in the pet retail and veterinary science fields. She has been an Agriscience Teacher at Snohomish High School for the last nine years and teaches Animal Biology, Veterinary Science and Agroecology. In 2012, Snohomish High School won the NAAE Outstanding Secondary Agriculture Program for Region 1 and Stacy is so excited to be a part of such a wonderful program. Stacy’s family lives on a hobby farm in Arlington, where they keep goats, chickens, turkeys, a horse, dogs and cats.

Snohomish Valley FFA Alumni Association
The Snohomish Valley FFA Alumni Association provides leadership support and career guidance to students enrolled in agricultural education at both Snohomish and Glacier Peak High Schools. Our association is comprised of FFA alumni, local businesses and individuals who are helping to build relationships between the local community and farms by supporting the next generation of American farmers.
National FFA Organization
The FFA is an intra-curricular student organization for individuals interested in both agriculture and leadership, providing a path for personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Originally founded in 1923, today the FFA continues to help the next generation rise up by aiding its members to develop their own unique talents and leaderships skills while exploring their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways.
The Program
SHS offers a full, four-year program in Agricultural Education; students may choose from two pathways—Plant Science or Animal Science.
